The SECO 17016463 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, this tool delivers hardness and wear resistance needed for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous materials, as well as high-temperature alloys. It features a 1.5-inch cutting diameter, a 4-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Six flutes provide a high feed-rate capability and a fine surface finish on finished cuts.
This end mill is suited for production milling in job shops, tool rooms, and manufacturing environments where extended reach and deep side-wall milling are required. The long-series design with a 4-inch length of cut makes it appropriate for slotting and peripheral milling in workpieces with significant depth. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation is standard. The center-cutting capability allows it to be used for plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Primary workpiece material designations include ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S.
The SECO 17016463 belongs to Series SPC408 and is intended for use with standard milling machine spindles and tool holders accepting a 1.25-inch straight shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys per the input specifications.
Installation of this end mill is performed by machinists using compatible collet chucks, end mill holders, or hydraulic toolholders sized for a 1.25-inch shank diameter. Ensure the tool holder bore and collet are clean and undamaged before seating the shank to maintain TIR within acceptable limits. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the workpiece. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for RPM, feed rate setup, and workholding before initiating cuts.
