The SECO 17016462 is a single-end, four-flute square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, this tool delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. It carries a 1.5 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 1.25 inch shank diameter, with an overall length of 4.5 inches. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and centercutting capability allow both plunge and peripheral milling. This end mill is used primarily by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
The 17016462 belongs to the SPC408 series and is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its cobalt substrate with M42 grade material makes it appropriate for harder workpieces where standard high-speed steel tools wear prematurely. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining centers and manual mills. The stub length-of-cut classification keeps the tool stiff and reduces deflection in heavier cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application end mill for machine spindles accepting a 1.25 inch shank diameter, compatible with standard ER and side-lock toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.001 inches after clamping. Always confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cut orientation before engaging the workpiece.
