The SECO 17016457 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiCN coating that extends tool life and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The mill measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut, a 1.25-inch shank diameter, and a 4.5-inch overall length. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and surface finish quality. It is center-cutting, allowing direct plunging into material without pre-drilling. This tool is part of the Series SPC408 stub-length line.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual milling machines that accept a 1.25-inch straight shank. The stub-length geometry provides added rigidity, making it a practical choice for shops running aggressive feed rates or cutting harder alloys where tool deflection is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for milling applications requiring a 1.25-inch diameter square end mill in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloy workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the tool holder or collet and torque to the machine manufacturer's specified value. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.001 inches per specification.
