The SECO 17016450 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers elevated wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. It runs a 1.125-inch cutting diameter with a 2-inch length of cut, a 1-inch shank diameter, and a 4.5-inch overall length. The 6-flute, right-hand spiral configuration at a 30-degree helix angle provides smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die shops are the primary users of this series.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations. The short length type keeps overhang minimal, supporting rigidity in tight setups on vertical mills, horizontal mills, and machining centers. The TiCN finish helps the tool maintain edge integrity in interrupted cuts and abrasive materials commonly encountered in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill for applications requiring a 1.125-inch diameter, 1-inch shank, 6-flute cobalt square end mill; fits standard R8, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders with a 1-inch bore.
Installation is performed by machinists using an appropriate end mill holder or collet chuck rated for the 1-inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the full recommended depth. Confirm setscrew or collet clamping torque meets the toolholder manufacturer specification before running. Always verify runout with a dial indicator before taking the first cut; the maximum TIR for this tool is 0.001 inches.
