The SECO 17016448 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. The tool measures 1 inch in cutting diameter with a 6-inch length of cut, a 1-inch shank diameter, and an 8.5-inch overall length. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. It fits production and job-shop environments where extended reach into deep pockets or slots is required. The 6-inch length of cut makes it appropriate for deep-cavity work that shorter standard-length tools cannot reach. It is categorized as a regular-length tool within the SPC408 series and is configured for use without coolant-through capability.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece material ratings cover Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), Cast Iron (K), Aluminum and Non-Ferrous (N), and High-Temp Alloy (S) per SECO material classification codes.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 1-inch shank fully into the tool holder and torque set screws or collet nuts to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.001-inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut.
