The SECO 17016447 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for increased surface hardness and heat resistance, it handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The mill measures 1 inch in cutting diameter, carries a 3-inch length of cut, and runs a 6-flute spiral configuration at a 30-degree helix angle. It is center-cutting and right-hand cut with right-hand flutes, making it suitable for plunge entry and conventional or climb milling passes.
This end mill fits production and job-shop milling operations where tool life and finish quality matter across a range of workpiece materials. The SPC408 series is suited for roughing and finishing passes on steel and stainless components, as well as cast iron and high-temp alloy work. It mounts directly into standard 1-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, or hydraulic tool holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for standard 1-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling arbors used in vertical machining centers and knee mills. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), cast iron (ISO K), aluminum and non-ferrous (ISO N), and high-temperature alloys (ISO S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the recommended engagement depth in the holder and that runout does not exceed the 0.0010-inch TIR maximum. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop-safety guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
