The SECO 17016445 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 1-inch cutting diameter and 4-inch length of cut make it well suited for deep-cavity milling, slotting, and profiling. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smoother cut. The end mill is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry without a pilot hole. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The long-length configuration, with a 6.5-inch overall length and 4-inch length of cut, suits applications where extended reach into a workpiece is required. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow standard milling convention, making it a direct fit for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. It belongs to the SECO SPC408 series.
Designed for use in standard milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers accepting a 1-inch straight shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys per the SPC408 series application scope.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the end mill. Secure the 1-inch shank in a collet or end mill holder to the tool holder manufacturer's specified clamping torque range. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0010-inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
