The SECO 17016444 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, it delivers extended tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys. The mill measures 1 inch in cutting diameter with a 6-inch length of cut and an 8.5-inch overall length. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with manual or CNC milling equipment.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling operations including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, expanding its use to pocketing operations. Its regular length classification and 1-inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard milling chucks, collet holders, and end mill adapters used in vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on feeds and speeds selected for the workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tool in standard milling machine setups that accept 1-inch shank end mills. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys per Series SPC408 application guidelines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening — never grip on the fluted section. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized before changing tooling. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.001-inch TIR maximum specification after seating in the holder.
