The SECO 17016443 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, it delivers wear resistance and heat tolerance suited to steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The 1 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 4 inch length of cut, making this a long-series tool appropriate for deep-pocket and extended-reach roughing and finishing work. It runs a right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle and is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and horizontal mills that accept a 1 inch shank. The long length of cut makes it well suited for deep cavity work, tall workpiece features, and applications where a standard-length tool cannot reach. Primary workpiece material categories covered include steels (P), stainless steels (M), cast irons (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and high-temperature alloys (S). It is not configured for coolant-through delivery, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for machines accepting a 1 inch straight shank end mill in the SPC408 long-series format. Compatible with standard ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders dimensioned for a 1 inch shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the tool in the holder. Verify runout after tool installation using a dial indicator; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0010 inches. Follow shop safety practices and applicable OSHA machine-guarding requirements when operating rotary cutting tools.
