The SECO 17016434 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built to Series SPC408 specifications, it features a 3/4-inch cutting diameter, a 4-inch length of cut, and a 6-1/4-inch overall length. The M42 cobalt substrate provides elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. A TiCN coating further extends tool life by reducing friction and surface wear. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut with right-hand flute configuration promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting at typical milling feeds and speeds.
This end mill is intended for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, supporting slot milling, pocket milling, and profile milling in a single setup. It is appropriate for use on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC machining centers in job shop, tool room, and production environments where a general-purpose cobalt end mill is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 3/4-inch shank cobalt square end mills in the SPC408 series. Suitable for use in any standard 3/4-inch end mill holder, collet chuck, or hydraulic chuck accepting a 3/4-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the holder — typically 1.5 times the shank diameter — and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0010 inches as supplied.
