The SECO 17016430 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN (titanium carbonitride), it delivers extended tool life in abrasive and heat-generating cuts. The 4-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. At 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut, this is a short-series, single-end mill suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on a wide range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in standard end mill holders or collet chucks.
The 17016430 is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, adding versatility for pocket milling and ramping operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is compatible with standard spindle rotation on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits common collet and end mill holder bores found across most CNC and manual milling platforms. Extended reach is not required for typical short-series applications where rigidity and vibration control are the priority.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or equivalent for 4-flute cobalt square end mills in the SPC408 series. Fits any standard end mill holder or collet accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to full recommended engagement depth in the holder to minimize runout and prevent pull-out under cutting load. Verify TIR does not exceed the rated maximum of 0.001 inches after mounting before initiating a cut.
