The SECO 17016425 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool carries a TiCN coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated tooling. It runs with a right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute at a 30-degree helix angle, which promotes efficient chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry into the workpiece. This tool is sized at 0.625 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 3.75-inch overall length, making it a standard-reach tool suited to general milling setups. Machinists and toolroom operators working on CNC and manual milling machines are the primary users.
The SECO 17016425 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. It fits conventional milling machine setups in job shops, production machining environments, and toolroom applications. The 5/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock collet systems common on vertical and horizontal milling machines. The four-flute configuration favors finishing and semi-finishing cuts where surface quality matters more than aggressive stock removal.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill compatible with any milling machine or machining center that accepts a 5/8-inch shank diameter. Suitable for ISO material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), and S (high-temperature alloys) as specified by SECO for this tool series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Secure the shank fully within the collet or tool holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended for the holder type before tightening. Inspect runout after mounting and verify it does not exceed the 0.0010-inch TIR maximum specified for this tool. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
