The SECO 17016424 is a single-end square end mill engineered for material removal in demanding machining operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The 4-flute spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 9/16-inch mill diameter, a 1-3/8-inch length of cut, and a 1/2-inch shank diameter, this tool fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders used in milling machines and machining centers. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional vertical and horizontal mills. The short-length geometry provides added rigidity, making it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where tool deflection must be minimized. It ships individually and is sold as a single unit.
Designed for use in milling machines and machining centers with a 1/2-inch collet or end mill holder. Compatible with workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), and S (high-temperature alloys) per ISO material classification. Part of the SECO SPC408 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the tool holder to within the tolerance specifications for runout. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut.
