The SECO 17016418 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN), this tool delivers extended wear resistance and heat tolerance under demanding cutting conditions. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3.25-inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and four-flute configuration promote efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops or production environments will find this end mill well-suited to a broad range of milling operations.
This end mill is designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are required. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly found in production and toolroom setups. This tool belongs to the SECO SPC408 series.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard toolroom end mill for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. Compatible with any 0.5-inch bore end mill holder, ER collet, or Weldon-style holder. Part of the SECO SPC408 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 0.5-inch shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.001 inches before cutting.
