The SECO 17016415 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling across a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it offers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Center-cutting geometry allows for direct plunge entry. With a 3/8-inch diameter, 2.5-inch length of cut, and 4.25-inch overall length, this tool fits standard milling setups without extended-reach toolholders.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. It is part of the SECO SPC408 series, which targets general-purpose to demanding applications where cobalt construction and TiCN coating provide a measurable advantage over standard HSS tooling. Installation is performed by machinists on vertical or horizontal milling machines and machining centers requiring a 3/8-inch straight shank tool.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, or shrink-fit toolholders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and high-temperature alloys (S).
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or quill locked before changing tooling. Use a calibrated torque wrench and appropriate collet or end mill holder to seat the shank; never exceed the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Verify runout against the listed TIR maximum of 0.001 inches before beginning a cut.
