The SECO 17016405 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance beyond standard HSS tooling. The cutting end measures 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut, carried on a 0.375-inch shank and an overall length of 2.4375 inches. A titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 4-flute, 30-degree right-hand spiral geometry provides efficient chip evacuation and a stable cutting action in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, making it versatile for multi-axis CNC machining centers and manual knee mills alike. It belongs to SECO series SPC408, a cobalt end mill line sized for light-to-medium material removal where HSS tooling falls short but solid carbide is not required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 0.375-inch shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use; do not run damaged tooling.
