The SECO 17016403 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life compared to uncoated tooling. The cutter measures 0.1875 inches in diameter with a 0.5 inch length of cut, a 0.375 inch shank diameter, and a 2.375 inch overall length. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle produce efficient chip evacuation and a clean finish. The centercutting geometry allows plunge cutting as well as standard peripheral and slot milling. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments.
The 17016403 is rated for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. It fits the SPC408 series product family and is well suited for light-to-medium roughing and finishing passes in vertical machining centers, manual knee mills, and CNC machining centers where a 0.375 inch shank collet or end mill holder is available. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling on these platforms.
Designed for use in machining applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys (ISO groups P, M, K, N, and S). Part of the SECO SPC408 series. Requires a 0.375 inch shank collet, end mill holder, or equivalent toolholding system.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting the shank. Torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder specification — do not over-tighten. Verify runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum of 0.001 inches before beginning a cut.
