The SECO 17016381 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, it delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 1 inch cutting diameter and 1-1/2 inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This end mill is intended for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It fits standard 3/4 inch tool holders and collet chucks found on knee mills, vertical machining centers, and CNC milling machines. The short length classification contributes to rigidity during aggressive cuts. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece. The Series SP205 designation places it within SECO's cobalt short-series milling line.
Designed for use in 3/4 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, or hydraulic holders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. Suitable for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys per ISO groups P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 3/4 inch shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.001 inches.
