The SECO 17016365 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for metal removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN), this tool offers improved hardness and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter features a 5/32-inch diameter, a 7/16-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree spiral helix with two right-hand flutes. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunging as well as conventional milling operations. It is installed in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines by machinists and tooling technicians working in job shops and production environments.
This end mill is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. With a 3/8-inch shank diameter and a 2-5/16-inch overall length, it fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in light-duty to medium-duty milling setups. The SP205 series is optimized for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling where a smaller diameter cutter is required for detail work or tight geometries.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers, vertical knee mills, and manual milling machines capable of accepting fractional-inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. The tool should be seated fully in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and secured to the recommended torque for the holder type. Inspect the shank and cutting edges for damage before each use. Spindle runout should be verified against the specified TIR maximum before initiating a cut to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece dimensional error.
