The SECO 17016213 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers hardness and heat resistance suited for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 1-inch mill diameter, 5-flute spiral geometry, and right-hand cutting direction work together to break chips efficiently and reduce cutting forces during roughing passes. With a stub-length profile and 0.75-inch length of cut, this tool fits short-reach setups where rigidity is a priority. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on mills, machining centers, and manual knee mills where aggressive stock removal is needed before finish passes. The TiCN coating extends tool life when cutting alloy steels, stainless, and other demanding materials. Its 0.75-inch shank diameter provides a secure grip in standard collet chucks or end mill holders. The stub length and 3-inch overall length keep deflection low in short-reach setups, making it a reliable choice for slotting, peripheral milling, and pocketing operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill compatible with standard 0.75-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and similar toolholding systems used on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and confirm the machine RPM and feed rate match the calculated values for the workpiece material.
