The SECO 17016209 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. It is manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and features a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The tool has a 1-inch mill diameter, five flutes, and a 3-inch length of cut, making it well suited for deep-pocket and side-milling operations. With a maximum helix angle of 30 degrees and spiral right-hand flutes, it provides efficient chip evacuation during heavy roughing passes. Installation and use require a compatible toolholder and are intended for trained machining professionals.
This end mill is used in metalworking and machining environments where high material removal rates are the priority. The long series configuration and 3-inch length of cut allow it to reach deeper pockets and bosses than standard-length tools. The cobalt M42 substrate makes it a practical choice for cutting alloy steels, stainless steels, and other tough materials where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. The non-centercutting design means it is intended for side milling and slotting entries, not plunge cutting. It is part of the REM445 series and is packaged as a single unit.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque retention hardware according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. This is a non-centercutting tool and must not be used for direct plunge operations without a pre-drilled entry point.
