The SECO 17016195 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials while resisting heat and wear. The 1/2 inch diameter, 4-flute configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during heavy roughing cuts. With a 1.25 inch length of cut and 3.25 inch overall length, it fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks used in CNC and manual milling setups. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for roughing passes before finish milling.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on machining centers, knee mills, and CNC vertical mills. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle rotation. The TiCN coating extends tool life in applications involving alloy steels, stainless, and hardened materials. It is not center-cutting, so it requires a pre-drilled entry point or ramp entry. No extended reach or variable helix features are present, keeping the design straightforward for general roughing work in job shop and production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill replacement for standard 1/2 inch end mill holders and collet chucks used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth and torque the set screw or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Because this end mill is not center-cutting, do not plunge directly into solid material without a pre-drilled hole or programmed ramp entry.
