The SECO 17016193 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for added surface hardness and heat resistance, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, 4 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration, and a maximum helix angle of 30 degrees. The long-series design provides extended reach into deeper pockets and slots. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for roughing passes where chip evacuation and tool life are the primary concerns.
This end mill suits horizontal and vertical milling machine setups in job shops, production machining, and maintenance environments. The 3/8 inch shank diameter matches directly to standard ER collet chucks and Weldon-style holders common in both manual and CNC mills. It is appropriate for roughing steel, stainless steel, and similar hard alloys in both prototype and production runs. The 1.5 inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth slotting and side-milling applications. No coolant-through capability is present, so external flood or mist coolant delivery is standard practice with this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool replacement for 3/8 inch end mill applications in manual and CNC vertical milling machines using standard 3/8 inch collet or Weldon shank tool holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Secure the shank fully into the collet or tool holder, ensuring minimum overhang beyond what the length of cut requires to maximize rigidity and reduce chatter. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended chip load or surface footage for the workpiece material.
