The SECO 17016192 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers elevated hardness and heat resistance suited for ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The 3/8 inch diameter cutter features 4 spiral flutes with a right-hand cutting and flute direction, a 30-degree maximum helix angle, and a short-length configuration. With a 3/4 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length, this tool fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This roughing end mill is intended for use in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments where rapid stock removal is required before finish passes. The chipbreaker-free, spiral flute geometry produces segmented chips that help reduce cutting forces and heat buildup in the cut zone. It is suitable for slotting, side milling, and profiling operations in ferrous alloys and similar materials. The non-centercutting design means it is not intended for plunge cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this tooling.

This tool is installed by machinists in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, or set-screw holders rated for the 3/8 inch shank diameter. Confirm holder runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces surface finish quality. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Non-centercutting geometry prohibits plunge entry — use ramping or helical interpolation to enter a closed pocket.
