The SECO 17015357 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials while resisting heat and wear. The 3/4-inch diameter cutter features 4 right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and a 2.5-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for hogging operations where stock removal rate matters more than final surface finish. Overall length is 4.75 inches. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments.
This roughing end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. The chipbreaker-free, spiral flute geometry produces a corncob-style cutting action that breaks chips and reduces cutting forces during heavy slotting, pocketing, and profiling. It is not center-cutting, so it requires a pre-drilled entry point or a ramping entry path when starting inside a workpiece. The 3/4-inch shank diameter matches standard ER, CAT, BT, and straight-bore toolholders in that size range.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 3/4-inch toolholder. Part of the SECO REM445 series.
Install in a properly sized 3/4-inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-flat holder and torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing tools. Because this end mill is not center-cutting, use a pre-drilled hole or a ramped entry path — do not plunge straight down into solid material. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged roughing end mill can cause toolholder damage or workpiece scrapping.
