The SECO 17015286 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance, it carries a 5/8 inch (0.625 inch) diameter with a 1.25 inch length of cut and a 3-3/8 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. This tool is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry, and is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on ferrous and harder workpiece materials.
This roughing end mill fits standard milling applications in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machining. The 5/8 inch shank diameter seats directly into standard end mill holders or collet chucks of matching bore. The TiCN coating extends tool life compared to uncoated cobalt, making it a practical choice for interrupted cuts, scaling, and work on harder alloys where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist external coolant delivery is recommended when cutting at higher feed rates.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm tool stick-out is minimized to reduce deflection during roughing passes.
