The SECO 17015282 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Machined from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 1/2 inch diameter cutter features four flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and a right-hand spiral flute geometry. The long-series configuration provides a 1.625 inch length of cut, giving machinists access to deeper pockets and stepped features without sacrificing rigidity. Center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling.
This roughing end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. The REC700 series is intended for hogging cuts in alloy steels, stainless, and tool steels where chip volume and edge strength are the primary concerns. It is not designed for coolant-through applications and does not feature variable helix or chipbreaker geometry. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle configurations. Installation requires a collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style side-lock holder matched to the 1/2 inch shank diameter.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling addition for any milling setup accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank end mill, including collet chucks, ER collet holders, and Weldon side-lock holders with 1/2 inch bore capacity.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the holder to minimize runout and prevent pullout under heavy roughing loads. Verify that holder bore tolerances are compatible with the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0005 inches specified for this tool.
