The SECO 17015183 is a single-end roughing end mill engineered for aggressive material removal in metal-cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, this tool delivers heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry runs at a 30-degree maximum helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation. With a 5/8-inch mill diameter and 3.125-inch length of cut, it is suited for roughing passes where stock removal rate and tool longevity are the primary concerns. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this series.
This end mill is used in milling operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys in job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments. It fits standard 5/8-inch tool holders and collet chucks. The non-centercutting design means it is intended for side milling and peripheral roughing cuts rather than plunge entry. The REM710 series is a recognized roughing geometry line suitable for manual knee mills and CNC machining centers running conventional roughing toolpaths.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or equivalent roughing end mill for standard 5/8-inch collet chucks and end mill holders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before commencing the cut; excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces surface finish quality on the roughed surface.
