The SECO 17014863 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN for heat and wear resistance, this tool handles demanding cuts in ferrous metals, stainless steels, and similar hard materials. It features a 1 inch mill diameter, 5 flutes for improved chip load distribution, and a right-hand spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree maximum helix angle. The REM445 series design is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running manual or CNC milling equipment in production and job-shop environments.
This roughing end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling applications where fast stock removal is the priority. The 5-flute configuration allows for heavier chip loads compared to standard 4-flute finishers, making it well suited for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in production machining, tool rooms, and maintenance shops. The 1 inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter for straightforward collet or end mill holder setup. No coolant-through capability means it is intended for flood or mist coolant applied externally.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 1 inch straight-shank end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling machine spindles accepting 1 inch shank tooling. Part of the SECO REM445 roughing end mill series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the milling machine spindle before installing or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended insertion depth and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use; do not run a damaged end mill.
