The SECO 17014840 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials while maintaining cutting edge integrity at elevated temperatures. The 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. With a 0.75-inch mill diameter and 1.25-inch length of cut, this short-series tool fits standard milling chucks and collet holders used in shop and field machining work. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill for roughing passes where high stock removal rates are the priority.
This end mill suits roughing operations on machining centers and manual knee mills in job shop, maintenance machining, and production environments. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on most CNC and manual milling platforms. The short flute length and rigid cobalt substrate make it well suited for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials where carbide tooling may chip. The 0.75-inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, allowing direct installation in standard 3/4-inch ER or end mill holders without a reducing sleeve.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 3/4-inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and similar milling tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists using a standard end mill holder or collet chuck rated for the 0.75-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before tool changes. Verify holder runout with a dial indicator after seating to confirm concentricity within acceptable limits. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for cutter engagement and RPM settings when beginning a roughing pass.
