The SECO 17014832 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN for heat resistance and extended tool life, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in production environments. The 5/8 inch diameter body carries four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle, producing efficient chip evacuation along the 1.25-inch length of cut. The 3-3/8 inch overall length fits standard short-series toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this style of rougher for roughing passes before finishing, reducing cycle time while maintaining dimensional control.
This end mill suits vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills running roughing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The TiAlN coating improves performance at elevated cutting temperatures, making it a practical choice for dry or minimal-lubrication machining environments. The right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute geometry are consistent with standard climb- or conventional-milling setups. Shops running production work on ferrous alloys or tool steels will find the M42 cobalt substrate more heat-resistant than standard M2 HSS tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 5/8 inch diameter collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks used in CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque set-screws or collet nuts per the toolholder manufacturer specification. This end mill is not center-cutting — avoid programmed or manual plunge entries directly into solid material without a pre-existing entry point.
