The SECO 17014822 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it handles elevated cutting temperatures and extends tool life in tough ferrous and stainless materials. The 3/8 inch diameter, 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flutes allows efficient chip evacuation during high-feed roughing passes. With a 1.5 inch length of cut and 3.25 inch overall length, this tool fits standard milling chucks and collet holders used in CNC and manual knee mills. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill suits roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, and similar hard alloys in both job-shop and production environments. The long-length configuration provides added reach for deeper pockets and shoulder milling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional spindle setups. The non-centercutting design means it is intended for peripheral and side milling rather than direct plunge cuts. The Series REM445 designation identifies it within the SECO roughing end mill product family.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill with a 3/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with 3/8 inch collet holders and end mill chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard tooling setup procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or chuck and torque the retention nut or drawbar to the machine manufacturer specification. Non-centercutting geometry requires a pre-drilled or pre-milled entry point for any plunge-entry operation.
