The SECO 17014237 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tool runs a 1 inch cutting diameter and a 6 inch length of cut, making it well suited for deep-reach roughing passes. The five-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree maximum helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation while maintaining cutting stability under heavy loads. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals working on CNC mills, manual mills, and similar metalcutting equipment.
This tool is appropriate for roughing applications in ferrous and high-temp alloy materials where cobalt tooling is specified. The single-end configuration and right-hand cutting and flute direction are standard for conventional roughing setups. The 1 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing direct collet or end mill holder mounting without a step-down adapter. It is a regular-length tool in the SECO REM710 series, suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent stock removal rates are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment roughing end mill for use in any machine tool spindle accepting a 1 inch straight shank end mill holder or collet.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into a properly sized end mill holder or collet and torque the retention fastener to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material.
