The SECO 17014221 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous metals and hard alloys. The 7/8-inch mill diameter pairs with a 3/4-inch shank and a 1.875-inch length of cut, giving machinists a rigid setup with ample reach for roughing passes. Five spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle break up chips efficiently, reducing cutting forces and chatter. The bright, uncoated finish is well suited for materials where coating adhesion is a concern or where re-sharpening is expected.
This end mill is used in manual and CNC milling operations where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. The single-end design keeps the tool simple and cost-effective for high-wear production environments. It is commonly installed in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and horizontal mills across job shops, tool rooms, and production floors.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard milling chucks, collet holders, and end mill holders accepting a 3/4-inch shank diameter. Part of the SECO REM710 series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the 3/4-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating to confirm proper tool engagement before initiating a cut.
