The SECO 17014216 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle drives efficient chip evacuation while maintaining cut stability. With a 3/4-inch mill diameter, 4.125-inch length of cut, and 6.375-inch overall length, this tool covers a wide range of slotting and peripheral roughing operations. It ships bright and uncoated, ready for direct use or operator-applied coatings.
This end mill is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where roughing passes in steel, stainless, and similar alloys are routine. The REM710 series designation places it in SECO's standard-reach roughing lineup. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction match conventional milling setups. The non-center-cutting geometry means it is intended for peripheral cuts and plunge operations should be avoided without a pre-drilled entry point.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 3/4-inch collet chucks, milling machine spindles, or end mill holders running right-hand rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Confirm the holder is rated for the shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the cut. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; external flood or mist coolant is recommended for extended cuts in ferrous materials.
