The SECO 17014206 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance suited for tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 4-flute spiral geometry with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction provides efficient chip evacuation across a 3.125-inch length of cut. With a 0.625-inch mill diameter and matching 0.625-inch shank, this tool fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool ready for use without additional prep. Licensed machinists and CNC operators typically run this tool in production and job-shop environments.
This roughing end mill is suited for general-purpose roughing passes in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual or CNC milling machines. The regular-length, single-end configuration makes it a practical choice for slotting, peripheral milling, and pocketing operations where stock removal rate matters more than finish quality. It is not center-cutting, so ramping or helical entry paths should be used when plunging is required.
Designed as a standard 0.625-inch shank roughing end mill compatible with conventional end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems that accept a 0.625-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or lock-out state before changing tooling. Verify holder bore cleanliness and shank runout before tightening to the tool holder manufacturer's specified procedure. Because this tool is not center-cutting, avoid straight plunge entry — use a ramping or helical interpolation strategy to enter the workpiece.
