The SECO 17014180 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 1-1/2 inch (1.5000 inch) mill diameter and six flutes configured in a right-hand spiral, right-hand cutting arrangement. The 30-degree maximum helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation during heavy roughing passes. This tool is part of the REM710 series and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual or CNC milling equipment.
This end mill suits roughing applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where high material removal rates are the priority. The 2-inch length of cut and 4-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth pockets and slots in production and job-shop environments. The 1-1/4 inch shank fits standard collets and end mill holders of the same bore size. Coolant-through capability is not supported, so flood or mist coolant must be applied externally when running at elevated speeds.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for standard end mill holders and collet chucks with a 1-1/4 inch bore, used in manual knee mills and CNC vertical machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Insert the 1-1/4 inch shank into a matched holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout reduces tool life and surface finish quality.
