The SECO 17014153 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill built for aggressive stock removal in ferrous and high-strength materials. At 1.125 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and 4.5-inch overall length, it is sized for heavy-duty milling passes on manual and CNC machining centers. The six right-hand spiral flutes and 30-degree maximum helix angle support chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. Constructed from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tool delivers the toughness needed for demanding roughing applications without supplemental coatings.
This roughing end mill is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on ferrous metals, alloy steels, and tough workpiece materials in production or job-shop environments. The 1-inch straight shank fits standard R8, CAT, and similar toolholders common in vertical machining centers and knee mills. Its regular-length geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it a practical choice for conventional and climb roughing passes where high material removal rate is the priority.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 1-inch bore end mill holders on vertical and horizontal machining centers performing roughing operations in steel and alloy workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully in a clean, undamaged end mill holder and torque the set screw or collet to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Inspect the flutes and shank for damage before each use; cobalt tooling can chip if subjected to interrupted cuts at improper feed rates.
