The SECO 17014134 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed to cut through tough workpiece materials at sustained feed rates. The 1-inch mill diameter pairs with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 30-degree maximum helix angle, producing a shearing action that breaks chips efficiently and reduces cutting forces. At 3 inches overall length with a 0.75-inch shank diameter, this tool fits standard ER and shell-type toolholders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this class of tooling in production shops and maintenance environments.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes where rapid stock removal is the priority over surface finish. The 5-flute spiral geometry increases the number of cutting edges in contact with the workpiece at any moment, boosting feed rates versus a standard 3- or 4-flute tool. The bright, uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect edge condition. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction match conventional spindle rotation on most VMCs and HMCs. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach for chip evacuation and heat management.
Designed as a standard shank roughing end mill for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling adapters accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter. Belongs to SECO series REM710.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Insert the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention screw or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces tool life on a roughing geometry.
