The SECO 17014121 is a single-end roughing end mill engineered for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers good heat and wear resistance in tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) mill diameter pairs with a matching 7/8 inch shank diameter for a rigid, concentric setup. Five flutes with a spiral, right-hand cutting and flute direction break chips efficiently along a 3.5 inch length of cut. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required or where regrinding is expected. This end mill is sized for conventional CNC mills and manual knee mills used in job shops and production environments.
The SECO 17014121 is suited for roughing passes on steel, alloy steel, stainless, and similar materials where high chip loads and elevated cutting temperatures are typical. Its regular-length geometry fits standard tool holders and collets without requiring extended reach. The 5-flute configuration increases feed rates compared to 4-flute designs, making it practical for semi-finish to rough operations on medium-to-large milling machines. A maximum helix angle of 30 degrees balances cutting aggressiveness with flute rigidity on difficult cuts.
Designed for use in standard 7/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines sized for 7/8 inch shank tooling.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the collet or tool holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates wear on cobalt tooling. This is a non-centercutting end mill and must not be used for plunge milling operations.
