The SECO 17014110 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers heat and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting environments. The tool features a 0.75-inch mill diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree maximum helix angle with four right-hand spiral flutes. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users. At 3.875 inches overall length, it fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks sized for a 0.75-inch shank.
This roughing end mill is intended for milling operations that prioritize stock removal over fine surface finish — roughing passes on steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The non-centercutting, single-end design means it is used for peripheral and slot roughing rather than plunge entry. It does not require coolant-through capability, making it compatible with flood or mist coolant setups. Series REM710 geometry is optimized for chip-breaking action on tough materials without a dedicated chipbreaker ground into the flute.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill for use in any end mill holder or collet chuck accepting a 0.75-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Seat the shank to the full recommended depth in the holder and torque the set screws or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not use this tool for plunge entry, as the non-centercutting geometry is not designed for axial entry into solid material.
