The SECO 17014098 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers strong heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. The 5/8 inch diameter tool features four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and a bright, uncoated finish. With a 2.5 inch length of cut and a 4.625 inch overall length, this tool is suited for roughing passes where cycle time and chip evacuation are the priority. It is installed in standard end mill holders or collet chucks by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This roughing end mill is used in manual and CNC milling applications where rapid stock removal is required before finishing passes. The cobalt M42 grade performs well in ferrous metals, hardened steels, and high-temperature alloys. The right-hand cutting direction, regular length body, and 5/8 inch shank make it a practical choice for general-purpose roughing in job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments where tool life and chip breaking are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 5/8 inch end mill holders and collet chuck systems on manual or CNC milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists using a standard end mill holder or collet chuck with appropriate torque applied to the retention fastener per the machine tool manufacturer's specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Verify shank runout and holder condition before use, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear. Coolant-through spindles are not required for this tool.
