The SECO 17014077 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance suited to hard or abrasive workpiece materials. The mill measures 3/8 inch in diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. Its bright, uncoated finish and 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree maximum helix angle produce a controlled chip-breaking action that reduces cutting forces and vibration during roughing passes. Right-hand cutting and flute direction are standard for conventional milling machine spindles.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in machine shops, toolrooms, and manufacturing environments. The regular-length profile fits standard milling machine collets and tool holders without requiring extended-reach setups. It is a solid choice for machinists removing large amounts of stock prior to a finishing pass, particularly where tool rigidity and heat resistance are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill replacement for use in standard milling machine collets and tool holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Power down and lock out the milling machine spindle before seating or removing the end mill from the collet or tool holder. Ensure the collet bore and shank are clean and free of chips or coolant residue before clamping. Do not use this end mill as a center-cutting tool, as it is not designed for direct plunge entry.
