The SECO 17014075 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, it offers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) in diameter with a 3/8 inch shank diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and right-hand cutting direction makes it well suited for roughing passes where chip evacuation and tool longevity are priorities. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this style of cutter.
This end mill is used in manual and CNC milling applications where fast stock removal is required before a finishing pass. The roughing geometry reduces cutting forces and chatter compared to standard end mills, making it effective in tougher alloys and harder steels. The TiCN coating extends tool life in ferrous materials and abrasive workpieces. It is a regular-length tool suitable for general-purpose roughing in vertical mills, machining centers, and knee mills. The 3/8 inch shank fits standard ER collets and end mill holders commonly found in production and job shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill compatible with standard ER collet systems and end mill holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the 3/8 inch shank fully into the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
