The SECO 17013952 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it handles tough alloys and harder steels where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. The mill diameter is 0.375 inches, the length of cut is 1.375 inches, and the overall length is 3.125 inches. With 4 flutes and a 30-degree maximum helix angle in a right-hand spiral configuration, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and reduced chatter during heavy roughing passes. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous metals and high-temperature alloys in both production and job-shop environments. The TiCN coating extends tool life in interrupted cuts and abrasive materials. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, side-lock holders, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. It is a single-end tool, meaning once the cutting end is worn, the tool is replaced rather than flipped. It does not feature coolant-through capability, so flood coolant or mist is applied externally.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement roughing end mill for use in standard 3/8-inch tool holders on vertical machining centers and manual mills accepting right-hand cut tooling.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling setup personnel. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening — never grip on the fluted portion. Ensure the spindle is powered down and locked out before changing tooling per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Verify holder runout with a dial indicator before beginning a roughing pass to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
