The SECO 17013791 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, it delivers strong wear resistance and elevated heat tolerance during heavy cuts. The 1/2 inch diameter tool features 4 right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle, a stub-length design with a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2-5/8 inch overall length. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill in manual and CNC milling setups where rough stock removal is the primary objective.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. The stub length profile increases rigidity, making it a practical choice for applications where minimizing deflection is important. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in dry or light-coolant cutting conditions. Coolant-through is not available on this tool. It is a right-hand cutting, right-hand flute configuration and belongs to the SECO REC700 series.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch collet or end mill holders on manual knee mills and CNC machining centers requiring a stub-length single-end roughing tool.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as shank diameter tolerance is -0.0001 to -0.0005 inches.
