The SECO 17013552 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers solid wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. The 5/8 inch diameter tool features 3 spiral flutes with a high helix style at a 36-degree maximum helix angle, making it well suited for roughing passes where chip evacuation and cutting efficiency matter. A right-hand cutting and flute direction is standard. This tool is center-cutting and accepts through-tool coolant setups where the machine supports it, though it is not coolant-through capable on its own.
The 17013552 is used in metal-cutting operations on machining centers and manual knee mills. It is appropriate for roughing ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where cobalt tooling is specified. The regular-length geometry and 1-5/8 inch length of cut make it a practical choice for moderate-depth slotting, side milling, and profiling passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will find this tool a direct fit for production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 5/8 inch ID collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style toolholders on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or setting tooling. Ensure the shank seats fully and evenly in the toolholder to the depth recommended by the holder manufacturer, and tighten retention hardware to the toolholder specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
