The SECO 17013550 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. It features a 1/2 inch diameter cobalt body with a TiCN coating, providing elevated hardness and heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers toughness in interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. The three-flute spiral design with a high helix angle of 36 degrees promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. With a 1.25 inch length of cut and 3.25 inch overall length, this tool suits standard reach milling setups. Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians in conventional or CNC machining environments.
This roughing end mill is suited for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers where rough stock removal is required prior to a finishing pass. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. The regular length profile fits most standard tool holders without extended clearance requirements. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece where application demands it.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling arbors used in vertical mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following safe tooling change procedures with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the recommended depth in the tool holder and tighten the collet or set screw to the tool holder specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Refer to the machine manufacturer documentation and applicable shop safety protocols before operation.
