The SECO 17013514 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials with extended tool life. The cutter measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 0.75 inch length of cut and an overall length of 3 inches. Six spiral flutes in a right-hand cutting and flute direction provide efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. A 30-degree maximum helix angle balances cutting performance with tool rigidity. Machinists and toolroom technicians rely on this geometry for hogging out stock ahead of finishing operations.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills where roughing cuts are required on steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar alloys. The 0.75 inch shank diameter accepts conventional R8, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders sized for that shank. It is not center-cutting, making it suited to peripheral and slot roughing entries rather than plunge cutting. The regular-length profile keeps overhang manageable in typical production and job-shop setups. This tool is part of the SECO REM710 series.
Designed as an OEM-specification roughing end mill for use in standard toolholders accepting a 0.75 inch shank diameter; verify spindle taper and collet size before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, and verify that feed rates and depths of cut are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
