The SECO 17013509 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, this tool handles demanding cuts in tough alloys and hardened materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 1.25-inch diameter cutter features 6 spiral flutes with a right-hand cutting and flute direction, a 30-degree maximum helix angle, and a 2-inch length of cut. At 4.5 inches overall length, it fits standard milling machine and machining center setups. This tool is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops or production environments.
The 17013509 is intended for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including alloy steels and stainless grades where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide in interrupted-cut scenarios. The 6-flute configuration increases chip load per tooth at moderate feeds, making it a practical choice for hogging material before a finishing pass. The 1.25-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter for direct collet or end mill holder mounting on vertical mills, HMCs, and VMCs running right-hand spindles.

Installation requires a milling machine or machining center with a properly sized end mill holder or collet rated for 1.25-inch shanks. Ensure the spindle and holder are clean and free of debris before seating the tool. Set machine spindle direction to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. This is not a centercutting tool and should not be plunged axially into solid material.
